BMP Irrigation Tunnel
BBMP or the Balog-Balog Multipurpose Project Phase 2 is a project initiated by the late President Benigno Aquino III.
The project is expected to supply irrigation water and mitigate flooding in the province of Tarlac. Tarlac is a flood-prone province because of lahar (Volcanic Ash deposits) in which this project is intended to reduce these incidences.
This was a PHP 13.3 Billion project benefitting the towns of Paniqui, Pura, Ramos, Victoria, Gerona, San Jose, Lapaz, Capas, Concepcion and Tarlac City.
Alsina Philippines has taken part in one of the portions of the project which is the diversion tunnel and provided formwork solution for the client to adapt to curved top tunnel traversing with both straight and curved paths along its way.
Alsina Philippines provided a specialized arrangement of Multiform systems to allow to adapt to the shape, allow movement and allow faster stripping process.
The formwork solution is comprised of 2UPN beams connected as the main base frame of the formwork and a combination of 2UPN beams (steel beams) and HT20 beams (wooden beams) supported with Alsina’s push-pull props.
Also, wheel components are integrated into the formwork to ensure that each module is given the needed mobility to move from one segment into another.
At the end of the project, this structure is expected to help in irrigation, flood mitigation and possibly create eco-tourism to the nearby towns to further boost economic growth for the locality.
