Port of Alicante extension
Alsina’s Formwork delegation in Alicante collaborated in the extension of pier number 13 of the Port of Alicante (Spain).
This project consists of the implementation of the drawer´s upper slab while concreting the capping beam at the same time by means of a formwork system hung from metal profiling that avoids the use of shoring and climbing systems, as well as the implementation of the dock defenses. On the other hand, a new quay section of has been implemented from the seabed, also with capping beam, defenses and a large collection box.
It should be noted that Alsina specifically designed the capping beam formwork system in just one week after the port authorities prohibited the use of metal anchors in the drawer due to problems of durability just before starting the project, thus quickly and efficiently redesigning a customized formwork solution suited to the needs of the client that has worked perfectly.
The extension of the port will allow to move the operations of loading and unloading of products in bulk away from the city, as well as to increase the capacity of operations of the port, generating a greater number of operations and therefore the possibility of increasing the workforce in the future.
Alsina: customized effective solutions
For the implementation of the project Alsina has supplied its Alisply Walls, Alisply Multipurpose, Multiform Horizontal, Vistaform Slabs and HEB Beams formwork systems, in addition to designing a new hanging formwork system by using HEB profiling supported on piles designed by Alsina, which has allowed the implementation of the capping beam without using anchors.
Alsina’s Alisply range includes several recoverable formwork systems for the construction of walls and columns. This is a resistant, versatile and compatible system with all other accessories from Alisply family systems, a fact that makes so much more profitable the formwork equipment on site.
The formwork surface of different types of Alisply is made of plywood, which offers many advantages over metal surfaces, such as lower weight, higher concrete quality, increased performance and greater resistance to inclement weather.
On the other hand, Alsina’s Multiform system, consisting of double UPN metal beams, wooden beams, strips and turnbuckles is one of Alsina’s most versatile systems, allowing “ad hoc” design of the necessary recoverable formwork to adapt to any geometry whether they are straight, curved or one sided walls, lintels or bridge boards.
Finally, Alsina’s Vistaform Slabs is a traditional formwork system for exposed slabs composed of structural wood beams, supported by adjustable height support elements. This is a fast and versatile system that enables the distribution of beams and propping according to the weight of the slab to be implemented, besides facilitating the encounter with walls and hanging beams since the wooden beams can overlap each other. On the other hand, Vistaform Slabs offers the possibility to use different forming surfaces depending on the project concrete finish requirements, hence allowing a smooth finish.
