Anti-PFAS Water Reservoirs
Upon completion, the Montagnana reservoir will serve as the central hub for the new water pipeline designed to supply PFAS-free (Perfluoroalkyl Substances) water to the walled city and various other municipalities in the province of Padua.
The initiative entails constructing the Montagnana reservoir and a new Ponso-Montagnana-Pojana Maggiore pipeline, spanning over 22 kilometers, which extends the Monselice-Ponso pipeline. This development will enable the discontinuation of water supply from the Madonna di Lonigo facility (currently filtering PFAS-contaminated water), replacing it with uncontaminated foothill water sourced from Camazzole. This project is valued at nearly 26 million euros.
The design represents an exquisite example of bioarchitecture, seamlessly blending into its environment. The facility will boast a capacity of 10,000 cubic meters, divided into two 5,000 cubic meter modules, along with an attached pumping station. It will function as a virtual reservoir, storing water gathered from safe sources overnight and distributing it to consumers throughout the day.
For the construction of these two tanks, Alsina Italia supplied approximately 400 square meters of Alsiply Circular formwork for curved walls. Each tank is composed of three concentric tanks, each 5 meters high, constructed with a single, full-height pour. The strategic planning of the pouring phases and the versatility of the Alisply Circular formwork system have ensured timely completion while maintaining high-quality standards in construction.
