Cebu Highway Link
It is an 8.5 km long viaduct that will link the islands of Cebu and Cordova (Philippines). The work has been promoted by the Metro Pacific Tollways, the Cebu city council and the Córdoba city council.
The project consists of a 612 m cable-stayed bridge as the central structure, with a main span of almost 400 meters of span between piers. It also includes two approach viaducts that will be built with precast beams for a total of 2,185 meters.
For the realization of these viaducts, 440 prefabricated beams are needed which will add up to a length of 15,762 meters.
The main benefit of this new infrastructure is that it will mean a new connection between the industrial area of Cebu and the Mactan International Airport, connecting with the urban developments of Cordova, located on the same island, thus constituting a backbone channel and a dynamic element. for the local economy.
Alsina’s solution
The special solution provided by Alsina has made it possible to produce 440 units of post-tensioned concrete beams “in situ”. The beams have a variable length between 19 and 53 meters, and edges of 1.50 and 2.00 meters. The section of the beam is shaped like a double T in the central sections, and is solid at the ends with a transition section that joins the two zones.
Alsina’s engineering department designed a modular metal mold system with integrated mechanical plumbing and stripping systems; as well as work platforms with built-in security systems.
4 sets of modular solutions were delivered to make up to 200 linear meters of precast beams “in situ” every day, meeting the client’s production targets (4 beams per day).
The results obtained are prefabricated beams “km 0”, together with their final location that avoid large heavy and special transports with polluting boats or vehicles. Therefore, it is a sustainable and economical solution aligned with the standards of the ecological agendas of the countries and the construction sector in particular.
