treatment plant Trento 3
The brand-new Trento 3 water treatment plant will replace the current one in south Trento, serving a number of municipalities around the provincial capital for a total of 150,000 p.e., with a purification capacity of 6000 m3/h.
It is a state-of-the-art plant in terms of pollution abatement, energy saving, and environmental impact. In fact, the facility will be established underground to avoid emissions, so that pollutants will be abated by 95%. In terms of energy savings, the byproducts of the purification cycle will be recovered into sludge through a process that produces biogas, which is also recovered to cut down on the facility’s energy needs. In addition, there are plans to install solar panels and a turbine to harness the significant flow of water that, once purified, will return to the Adige River.
The biogas cogeneration, the hydraulic turbine on the discharge of the treated water, and the solar panels will produce 4 million kWh per year, covering about 30% of the facility’s energy needs.
Alsina Italia participated in the structural casting of the latter part of the plant itself, providing its own formwork systems for the 2 digesters and 4 sludge tanks.
The digesters consist of 2 circular tanks with a diameter of 24 m and a height of about 13 m, with a frustum-shaped concrete slab and a retaining wall around its outer perimeter. The Alsiply Circular formwork system allowed the curved walls to be cast, while the slab was formworked with shoring by Multidirectional Scaffolding CL-40.
On the other hand, the 4 sludge tanks have a diameter of 14.50 m and a height of 5 m, which were created with the Alisply Circular formwork as well, in a single casting from a height.
