El Olivo underpass
The El Olivo underpass, on Route 5 North to Hijuelas, 100 km from Santiago, Chile, was constructed due to structural damage caused by truck impacts on the route, affecting both pillars (support stumps) and beams. The beams were weakened and had to be replaced as they could collapse in case of further impacts or a strong earthquake in the area.
The beam replacement involved concreting approximately 310 m2 of decking for vehicular traffic.
The formwork solutions provided by Alsina included load towers with Cl-40 Shoring to support the beams while they were being cut and replaced. Subsequently, the Multiform Bob formwork system was used, as temporary support systems resting on the ground could not be used due to vehicular traffic, since Route 5 is a central route connecting the entire country.
For this project, Alsina provided the following formwork systems:
- Cl-40 Shoring, a system with multidirectional connections and a tower-like support structure for holding beams for cutting and replacement, with a load capacity of 40 kN per support.
- Multiform Bob 45 and 90 degrees: a formwork system that allows the hanging of formwork surfaces over bridge beams or heights for slab construction, without the need for temporary systems from below and with a load capacity of 4000 kg. A total of 297 m2 of decking.
