New North Building of Palma Airport
Palma island is already the best-connected tourist airport in the Mediterranean area and the transfer center for European commercial aviation from May to last September. These are senses that make the expansion to be essential and will bring Palma Airport into a new age of service and quality.
The project is one of the most important and probably the largest budget one that will be carried out from the community in the coming years. The project has been scheduled to be done over 39 months, so that they would have the least influence on the Airport Son Sant Joan’s activities.
Alsina has participated in this huge project by executing a 4-floors building which has different heights, therefore need to use different sizes of props (3m, 4m, 5m and 6m).
By using a recoverable cassette system: Alucubetas, Alsina has made those light slabs, due to the light self-weight of waffle structure, Alsina engineering department decided to create a 1+0 solution (1 floor formwork + 0 floor re-propping). Thanks to all careful prior study and analysis of the resistance of concrete structure, in the constructive procedure we’ve helped the client to reduce a hug quantity of materials and cast time too.
Also, specific ronde section column formworks were supplied with cast heights up to 8m and diameters up to 80cm and be able to be cast by a single pour.
In addition, Auxiliary security systems and Stair access towers have also been used on site.
