ALSINA COLOMBIA PARTICIPATES IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW UNIVERSITY CITY OF MEDELLIN
The project: Construction of a University Facilities
Alsina’s delegation in Colombia is currently participating in the construction of a new university city in Medellin, located in the place previously held by the El Buen Pastor women’s prison. This project is part of the construction project of various university Cities, such as the Pedro Nel Gómez University Citadel, located in Robledo, which integrates three university institutions.
The construction of the university has become important because of the impact it will generate in higher education in the capital of Antioquia. Sapiencia, the city’s higher education agency, stated that 8.000 students could attend the institution.
The university space will have 23.000 square meters built and will have 14 buildings, classrooms, multiple spaces, a library and computer rooms. It will consist of a total of 37.000 thousand square meters of public space, both inside and outside of the University City, among which are sports areas and terraces on the last levels of the buildings.
It is expected that the project, that started on November 6, 2018, will be finished in the first half of 2020.

Alsina: practical and cost-effective solutions for residential equipment
Alsina supplied its Mecanoflex, Alisply Manual, Alispilar formwork systems and G30-40 Post-shores for the project implementation.
Mecanoflex is a slab formwork system that is unique due to its simplicity, since it only uses two basic elements (Multiple U-shape joist bearer and girder) for its assembly. These elements combine to create a grid and form the formwork. The elements have been designed to be light, resistant and also mechanized to facilitate the assembly without the need to use any tools. The ability to superimpose elements allows creating slab formwork along with the beam, a great selling point for slab formwork with hanging beams.
On the other hand, Alisply Walls Handset is a formwork characterized by its lightness and high performance. It stands out for its resistance to handling at the jobsite, its assembly simplicity thanks to the union of panels that are created with the only manual clamp on the market and, finally, the quality of the concrete thanks to its phenolic coating.
Finally, Alispilar is a formwork system designed by Alsina to significantly improve the pipeline and work method for the implementation of standard columns in building projects. This is a light but sturdy system that is quick and easy to assembly and that due to its phenolic plywood and chamfer strips (to smooth the edges) provides a high quality concrete finish. This is a very profitable system and adapts to all markets and typologies of projects, so it has been successfully used in many projects around the world since its inception and it’s gaining more and more followers everyday.
