Alsina’s Formwork delegation in Dubai began in 2018 its collaboration in the construction of the InterContinental Hotel and Resort Mina Al Arab, located in the capital of Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost emirate of the United Arab Emirates, known for its Arabian Gulf beaches.
Rak Properties, one of the biggest property developers listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, signed a Dh 11.5 million-contract with Al Nuaimi Group to embark on the implementation phase of this upcoming project in the emirate.
Mohammad Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director and CEO of Rak Properties, said the InterContinental Mina Al Arab Resort, besides other resorts and hotels that will be constructed in Ras Al Khaimah, are essential elements of the master plan of the project.
Two main buildings with 6 stories and a total build up area of around 50,000 sq. meters compose the resort, which will be inaugurated in 2019. The resort, which is being built by the sea, includes 350 rooms, luxury suites, a health club, a spa, two swimming pools, and a gymnasium fitted with the best equipment, as well as several restaurants among other facilities.
Alsina: fast and versatile solutions for facilities construction
For slab formwork, the client decided to use the Mecanoflex system, the most versatile slab system on the market.
Mecanoflex is a slab formwork system that is unique due to its simplicity as it only uses two basic elements (Stringer and Joist) for assembly. These elements combine to create a grid and make up the formwork. The elements have been designed to be: light, resistant, and are also mechanized to facilitate assembly without the use of tools. The capacity to overlap elements enables creating the slab formwork along with the beam, a great selling point for slab formwork with hanging beams.
The Alisply Walls Handset System is a formwork characterized by their lightness and the high performance it offers on site. It stands out for its resistance to rough handling on the work site, the simplicity of the assembly thanks to the joining of panels being created with the only manual clamp on the market and, lastly, the quality of the concrete thanks to its phenolic lining.
In order to carry out the columns, the site was supplied with Alispilar equipment, a column formwork system designed by Alsina to considerably improve the working method for the execution of standard columns in construction. This is a light but resistant system, with quick and easy assembly and which, thanks to its plywood panel and chamfers angles (to smooth the edges), provides a good concrete finish.
