Alsina Peru solves Puruchuco Tunnel implementation in Lima (Peru)
Alsina Group is collaborating in the implementation of this important work connection in Lima by providing its technical solutions and formwork systems for tunnel construction.
In recent years Alsina’s participation in national and international engineering tunnel projects has experienced a remarkable and gradual growth in proportion to the Group’s internationalization process. Currently, Alsina Group works in multiple and diverse projects worldwide, among which there is the implementation of the Puruchuco Tunnel in Lima (Peru).
Encofrados Alsina is solving, through its subsidiary in Peru, the formwork process of the tunnel linking two major streets in the east of the city, as Avenida Javier Prado and the Central Highway that connects Lima with the center of the country.
Alsina is providing a great variety of formwork systems for the implementation of this project, such as AR-65 Shoring System and Multiform system for the construction of the dome, whose configuration has a load capacity of 1.5 meters high of concrete with a density of 25 kN/m3. During the process, and after reaching this height, the formwork is loosened and then its time to proceed to load the customer’s structure which consists of trusses, continuing with the concreting.
The project is currently in its first phase. The second phase is expected to begin in about a month, in which the execution of the grouting in the tunnel exits is included. This process will be implemented by using Alsina’s Circular Alisply in the gable ends. Circular Aliply is a circular wall formwork system to be handled with crane, consisting of a galvanized steel frame and a phenolic plywood surface. It is a profitable system, quick and easy to assemble since it doesn’t require any tools for bending the phenol.
On the other hand, it is also planned to use Alsina’s modular curved formwork system for the execution of false tunnels and tunnel entrances. This system, resulting of Alsina’s experience and engineering, supports a maximum pressure of 60 kN/ m2, requires a minimum bend radius of 2.5 m and allows a 2.40 x 2.40 m modulation. This solution has several advantages, since it is adaptable to vaults of different curvature radii, allows the execution of the joints from the inside without the need to close the gaskets from the formwork surface, and provides a quick and safe installation, therefore a productive one.
The implementation of this project considering an investment of around ten million euros will allow the circulation of thirty thousand vehicles per day between the two roads.
