El encanto housing complex
The project consists of the construction of an apartment building in the first line of the Caribbean Sea in the hotel zone of Cancun. The building has 9 stories, each of 1.220 m2 distributed in two apartments.
Although the jobsite is a long way from Alsina´s Mexico warehouse, this has not been a problem for the client, who has previously done a similar project with Alsina and wanted to repeat the result, since Alsina´s team deep knowledge and their systems helped a lot in the design of the formwork and its performance.
It should be noted that the adaptation of the recoverable formwork to the building concrete structure has led to considerable savings in the rental of materials, thus avoiding the waste of wood, while allowing the construction deadlines to be met.
Alsina: the best solutions in the market for housing construction
The construction rhythms of the project required carrying out a slab per week. Since the plant is symmetrical, all vertical structural elements (walls and columns) are made in two sets.
The client specifically requested to use Alsina’s Alumecano recoverable formwork system to implement the slabs, since the recovery of the material without bracing for a second time is essential to meet the expected performance in the jobsite.
In addition, the Alumecano system had to adapt to recoverable fiberglass cases supplied by the customer. These molds are necessary to avoid the use of wood and, above all, to comply with the rhythms of formwork recovery: on the third day of concreting, the cassette is recovered with the intermediate cup holders and girders.
In order to comply with the implementation of the solid and lightened slabs, Alsina Mexico technical department carried out the structural blueprints of the slab with Alsina’s formwork systems by modifying the center distance measures and the cassette dimensions.
Alsina: practical and cost-effective solutions for residential equipment
For the implementation of the project Alsina supplied its Alumecano formwork system, VCM Modular Hanging Beam, Alisply Robust Walls, Alisply Universal and C160 Climbing System.
The Alumecano system has been used to carry out the implementation of the slabs. Alumecano is a re-usable formwork system for the implementation of waffle slabs with permanent coffer, one-way concrete beams and solid slabs. Alumecano only uses 3 basic components (Girder, Support Girder and Drop head) including the revolutionary new Drop head made of duralumin (structural aluminum), which makes it light and resistant for the support of the formwork surface. This system allows to recover a large part of the used equipment (100% of the Boards and 50% of the Struts) 72 hours after concreting, without the need for re-shoring, so they can be used elsewhere, making it a very profitable formwork system.
The beams were resolved with the VCM Modular Hanging Beam system. This system has been designed to revolutionize the formwork of beams, combinable and recoverable panels. It is formed by lightweight formwork panels that are joined by a manual clip. The VCM system allows the recovery of 90% of the formwork material on the third day from the pouring of concrete.
The modular formwork system Alisply Walls is a resistant, versatile and compatible system regarding its accessories with each of Alisly’s family systems, which makes the equipment use very profitable on the jobsite. The Alisply’s formwork system surface is phenolic, so it offers multiple advantages over metallic surfaces, such as lower weight, higher quality of concrete, increased performance and greater resistance to inclement weather.
