The final height of the tail dam is 50 m, and its length along the crown is approximately 190 m. To carry out such a large project, it is calculated that a total of 65,000 m3 of roller compact concrete will be needed.
The Alsina technical office, Alsitec has designed a solution for progressively implementing the dam project, by using steps that are 1.20 m high with an upstream and downstream depth of 24 cm and 72 cm respectively. The working rate of the project was defined in laying small layers of compact concrete 30 cm high continuously, day and night, until the crown was reached.
The main formwork system that Alsina has chosen to implement this project is the Alisply Walls joined to the Vertical Multiform system. The versatile nature of both systems makes it possible to overcome the geometrical differences considered in the project, thanks to significant adaptation efforts on behalf of the Alsina technicians.
